Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her highly commendable performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano has won several awards for her including an Oscar. Actresses have an extensive history of working on Broadway, Off-Broadway and other productions. When she was a kid, Helen Keller was her favorite character in a 5th grade show. The mumps caused her to lose hearing in one her ear canals, but that didn't stop the actress from fulfilling her dream. As a teenager, Hunter studied drama before moving to New York City. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut due to a chance encounter in the company of Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. She landed one as an actress who played the main character in Swing Shift. She has since appeared in numerous films and television series and movies in a long career that spans over three decades. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
